The man who vaulted over the counter and robbed a bank in Leawood last month might have thought he had a good disguise. But authorities said the cloth he used to hide his face didn’t fool employees at the Country Club Bank, 13451 Briar St. They recognized him as one of their customers, authorities said.

Matt Ewald of Leawood won medal honors at the Kansas Amateur in Kansas City Country Club, shooting a 138 for 36 holes. The tourney now goes to match play with the field cut to the top 64 players. Dodge Kemmer of Wichita shot a 141, three strokes behind Ewald.
